What is Operation Facelift?
Operation Facelift is a regional community-wide project created to help spruce up downtown areas throughout the West Central Mountain Region, build community pride and encourage downtown activity and new business development. Most economic development professionals and downtown revitalization proponents feel that expenditures for facelifts of their downtown businesses are the next critical steps behind infrastructure improvements for downtown revitalization. It is intended that Operation Facelift will become an annual event.
How does it work?
Each community selects a facilitator and identifies potential projects for their downtown activities. All the work is done by volunteers and materials are paid through contributions to the Operation Facelift Fund. There is no cost to the business for Facelift projects. Additional city maintenance and cleanup will be scheduled to coincide with the façade improvement projects.
How is Operation Facelift Funded?
Operation Facelift is primarily funded by grants and gifts from community corporate donors, businesses and citizens adding to the city’s project funding.
When will Operation Facelift take place?
The week of September 11, 2016 will be our first annual Operation Facelift, with September 17th as the culminating day. Look for announcements in the Star News beginning late August.
What help is needed?
Volunteers to serve as facilitators for each community, committee members for each community and volunteers for the day of the event are needed. No prior construction experience is necessary for most volunteer positions, however, we will need some construction expertise for façade improvements.
